For a son or daughter to give on their parents’ wedding anniversary

Wedding anniversaries, especially if both your parents are alive and well, can be great fun! Everybody is out to enjoy him or herself and it’s an opportunity for relatives and in-laws, who haven’t met each other for a long time, to renew acquaintances, catch up on the news and generally have a jolly good time together.

However, it’s not always easy to strike the right ‘tone’ for a speech in an environment like this.

You see, there are so many mixed emotions present, so many things that must be said and taken into consideration that, let’s face it, you cannot possibly say them all. Because, if you do, you’ll probably bore everybody, including your parents, silly.

That’s why I always advise sons and daughters to keep their parent’s wedding anniversary speeches simple, short, sincere and affectionate. It’s what I call the ‘Happy KISS’ formula (KISS =Keep It Short & Simple).
